Rising costs getting out of hand

Even the venue hire for Aintree Circuit has now risen to £5100+ per day, and we have to pay for track repairs on top, and bring in all the vital services such as timekeepers, rescue, recovery, medics, bales, etc etc. That means an Aintree sprint break-even point is now 106 competitors, and Liverpool Motor Club has lost money on every Aintree sprint since the Pandemic. Running sprints doesn't make financial sense when entries are still falling, but we soldier on because if we don't, the venue will be lost to motorsport. Maybe our entry fees are too cheap, but we are desparate to continue running events at a price that is attractive to new entrants to our sport.

Oh, and don't forget, from every competitor's entry fee, every organiser has to pay £34 to MSUK for an Interclub, or £35 for a National sprint or hillclimb, plus if the event organiser holds the track licence, that's another £820 or £1165 to pay to MSUK, depending on the grade of licence.

I have been having a conversation on the B19 FB page about this.

Mallory is 225 per day, I find this ridiculous. Compared to Curborough, Hethel or Debden. Mallory is basically about 5 corners, it is not a premium venue at all, they have nothing whatsoever there that is top level anymore so they are trying fleece a small series in my opinion. Add British Sprint championship to a title and you see why, that is probably the only real full British championship event they have there all year. You know then that there will be numbers of people who will pay regardless, same as premier hill venues. Compare the entry costs at Prescott or Shelsley to Doune, Forrestburn in Scotland, better, more challenging venues, nowhere near as rich as Shelsley or Prescott.

200 quid for Abingdon, they are raking it in there for 2 full days. And I bet the entry fee for the rally is probably more like 500, so yes we do have it easy in comparison

I know these places have to make money, but I also spoke to the guys at Debden and they decided to keep their entry to try and get more entries and it worked in a way, but not hugely.

What is being done to find new venues, I would be willing to help with this, I have done it in a very basic way in the past and had some success. You have countless airfields sitting around, some privately owned, some still militarily.
