The NCS's include a Chapter 22, which details approved changes due to come into force at the beginning of the following year.

4. Drivers
4.3. Competitors are required to wear flame-resistant gloves and shoes (see Ch.9 Art.12.5-6) with the exception of Standard Cars and Road Cars where their use is recommended. The use of a flame-resistant balaclava (Ch.9 Art.12.3) is mandatory with the exception of open bodywork Period Defined Vehicles (Non-Rally) A-D, Standard Cars and Road Cars where their use is recommended. For all categories the wearing of flame-resistant socks (Ch.9 Art.12.4) and underwear (Ch.9 Art.12.2) is strongly recommended.
4.3.1 For Period Defined Vehicles, Standard Cars and Road Cars suitable shoes must be worn which cover the foot and allow for adequate control of the vehicle at all times. Plastic shoes (such as trainers) should be avoided.
